About the Work at ALTEN
ALTEN is an international consultancy organization that seconds software engineers to hightech companies. Through ALTEN, we have worked at Canon Production Printing, DAF Trucks, and ASML. Each of these assignments brought different technologies, different domains, and different teams.
Project Lead Responsibilities
Since January 2026, I have been active as a Project Lead at ALTEN. In this role, I am responsible for leading a development team at ASML, overseeing both the technical and organizational aspects of the project.
Leadership & Delivery
- Owner of project plan creation, maintenance and roll-out; compliance with customer requirements and ALTEN/ASML governance
- Translating SOW and architectural inputs into refined, estimated product backlog; enforcing Definition of Ready/Done
- Driving sprint ceremonies: daily stand-up, planning, refinement, review and retrospective
- Managing quarterly delivery baselines and reporting against KPIs (OTD, Committed vs Delivered Story Points, First-Time-Right)
- Coordinating biweekly operational meetings and monthly governance (OBR, stakeholder updates) with ASML GL/FOM/PO
People & Capacity
- Fostering team health and performance; impediment removal and servant leadership culture
- Managing skills matrix, competency gaps, onboarding plan and training roadmap
- Sprint capacity planning with standardized SP/day allocations; balancing workload versus availability
- Handling leavers/replacements and access provisioning (SharePoint/Teams/IAM/VDI)
Finance & Risk
- Monitoring project finances (hours vs. PO, renewals, change-request impacts); preparing inputs for OBR
- Running monthly risk & opportunity reviews; maintaining dashboards; tracking escalations and corrective actions
- Ensuring EHS, Information Security, confidentiality/IP and export-control adherence
Assignments
At Canon Production Printing, we worked on cloud software for the print industry, using .NET, Angular, and React Native. At DAF Trucks, we built industrial automation software that runs in truck factories, using C#, WPF, and PLC integration. At ASML, we work on Python tooling for secure software releases. Each assignment requires different skills, but the core remains the same: building software that works and adds value.
Technologies
Through the various assignments, we've built up experience with a wide range of technologies. Backend development with C#/.NET and Python/FastAPI. Frontend development with Angular and React Native. Database work with SQL Server, MySQL, and Entity Framework. DevOps with Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, and Ansible. The variety keeps the work interesting and allows us to quickly pick up new technologies.
Beyond Development
Besides software development, we also help with project management, setting up CI/CD pipelines, and working with agile methodologies. We mentor students and junior developers, provide code reviews, and help them grow. This is a part of the work we find very rewarding.
